The Trinity Medieval Ireland Series (TMIS), published by Four Courts Press, advances the historical understanding of all aspects of Ireland in the Middle Ages by publishing in-depth and significant studies on key historical themes, including critical editions of primary sources. Each volume is characterised by the breadth of its historical imagination and the depth of its scholarship. The series to date includes landmark monographs by Donnchadh Ó Corráin and Katharine Simms, the collected essays of Edmund Curtis (d. 1943), A.J. Otway-Ruthven (d. 1989), James Lydon (d. 2013), and, most recently, Robin Frame; as well as Bernadette Williams' long-awaited edition of the Dublin annals of John de Pembridge. The series also includes multi-author works that originate in the Trinity Medieval Ireland Symposium, which has convened on the 500th anniversary of the death of the Great Earl of Kildare (2013), the 700th anniversary of the Bruce Invasion of Ireland (2015), and the 850th anniversary of the Anglo-Norman Invasion (2019). The series editors are Peter Crooks and Seán Duffy. Proposals for the series are welcome.

'This is the long awaited paperback edition of a hugely important work ... This paperback edition brings together in one volume twenty-one of the most important essays by these three major historians ... Peter Crooks ends this paperback edition with a bibliographic essay and a guide to works published between 2008 and 2018 ... this excellent guide makes this paperback a must buy!', Ireland's Genealogical Gazette (July 2018).
