The Maynooth International Musicological Conference, held at St Patrick's College Maynooth in September 1995, was the first event of its kind in the history of the state. Nearly 100 papers were delivered at this conference, and the selected proceedings, containing some sixty of these contributions, are now published as volumes 4 and 5 of the Irish Musical Studies series.
Drawing from the rich fabric of Irish and international musicology, these two volumes reflect the unprecedented scope and maturity of an event which marks the coming of age of musicology in Ireland.
