Music at Christ Church before 1800
Documents and selected anthems
Barra Boydell, editor
The documentary records relating to music at Christ Church cathedral Dublin are the most extensive surviving for any Irish cathedral. This volume gathers together for the first time the most important deeds, chapter acts and other documents relating to the choir, the organ and organists, and the provision of music, from the deed providing for choir boys to sing in the cathedral in 1480, up to 1800. It also includes editions of selected anthems by Christ Church composers of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, including Bateson, Hosier, Roseingrave and Woodward, much of it published for the first time.
